Immigrant Coalition Coordinator


Are you passionate about community engagement — and specifically with the Immigrant community? If so, then perhaps Dorcas International is the place for you.
The Immigrant Coalition Coordinator represents the RI Immigrant Coalition in the community and promotes awareness about its purpose and activities. The coordinator creates and implements strategies for community engagement and education on immigrant rights and other relevant topics. This position also tracks state and local legislation and coordinates advocacy efforts for policies and laws supporting the Coalition’s interests. The Coordinator will provide overall administrative support to Coalition members and initiatives.

The candidate should have the following:
 Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple projects
 Motivation to be a self-starter who is able to work independently
 Excellent communications skills including writing, editing, and public speaking
 Willing to work evenings and weekends and work remotely as needed
 Ability to engage stakeholders in a multicultural setting and within a diverse community
 Proficiency in Spanish (required)

ESL Teacher


Do you enjoy teaching adult learners from multiple backgrounds and making a difference in their lives? If so, then perhaps Dorcas International has is the place for you.
The ESL Teacher must be able to teach multi-level classes, plan lessons based on the learning needs of culturally diverse students, and maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning. The ESL teacher will support students regarding instruction and program services, and monitor and record student attendance and academic progress. This position requires the ability to make routine decisions regarding the everyday operation of the classes, meet routinely with a supervisor, and work collaboratively and collegially with program staff.

The candidate should have the following:
 Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree;
 At least two years of teaching experience with adult learners preferred;
 TESOL training or comparable certification for teaching ESL classes is preferred;
 Subject matter expertise/experience in specific content areas;
 Ability to relate well to groups of students of differing abilities and backgrounds;
 Ability to communicate effectively both orally and through correct written grammar;
 Ability to collaborate with colleagues individually and as a team;
 Ability to build a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the interests of students;
 Ability to engage learners with creative and stimulating instruction; and
 Ability to integrate and use technology for instructional and educational purposes

Monday-Wednesday 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. (11.25 total hours/week); March 4 - June 28
Monday-Thursday 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. (15 total hours/week); April 1 - June 20
