The past several months have been challenging to say the least. We adjusted so many aspects of our daily routines and schedules and have had to actively practice new levels of community care. Here at Dorcas International, we quickly adjusted our services in March to continue serving some of the most vulnerable populations in the state. To read more about this past year and our clients, view our Annual Report here:
In response to the pandemic, our staff members worked hard to transition our services as smooth as possible and took on additional roles, such as delivering food to families and taking part in the weR1 Rhode Island Relief Fund to provide direct cash assistance to Rhode Islanders who are unable to benefit from most public programs and emergency relief efforts due to their immigration status. It is due to our dedicated team and supporters that our organization has remained operational and accessible to the community.
This year we are also sad to say that we lost one of our Board members. It is with a heavy heart that we share this news, and it is with gratitude and honor that we dedicate this year’s Annual Report to the late William Prichett, who volunteered his time to help Dorcas International’s vital services grow and thrive for the past 10 years and was Board President for three of those years.
He was also the president and founder of Lumetta Inc. in Warwick, Rhode Island. Starting in 1992, he expanded Lumetta from a 12,000-sq. ft. building in West Warwick to today's 34,000-sq. ft. facility with state-of-the-art equipment — something he had never even dreamed of back when he was bending wire by hand in his shop in Jamestown, RI.
Bill will be greatly missed and remembered fondly for his altruistic, kind and hardworking nature and his committed service to our organization.
