What we do
We provide programs and services for immigrants, refugees, and those who need it most in the community. Here is a brief overview of the services we provide:

Refugee Resettlement
We serve the immediate needs of resettled refugees, providing housing, access to healthcare and education, and the necessary tools and information to successfully transition into their new communities. Currently, we are the only agency in Rhode Island that is able to resettle refugees arriving to the U.S.

Unaccompanied Minors
For the last five years, Heartland Alliance has subcontracted with Dorcas International to assist Rhode Island-based sponsors in welcoming newly arrived unaccompanied minors into their homes. Dorcas International has also implemented an optional volunteer-based mentor program that offers sponsor families the opportunity to have the unaccompanied minor paired with a vetted and trained mentor who can help them further adapt and feel comfortable in their new environment.

Employment
We help individuals to reach their employment goals by offering guidance and training and aiding them in the job search. We work closely with our education and case management teams to ensure that our clients develop the skills that they will need to get a job or advance in a current career, such as skills in resume writing, interviewing techniques, understanding job applications, and more! And we assist our clients in finding employment opportunities through our relationships with local employers.

Clothing Collaborative
The Clothing Collaborative is a part of our donation center here at Dorcas International. We provide free work appropriate clothing
to low-income individuals who are completing job training, education programs, or seeking employment. These individuals are clients of participating Rhode Island agencies, and we work with them to ensure that they have adequate professional attire to help them be successful in their professional and educational endeavors.
